Pearls beat - Jhazingha-Khaliph
00:00 / 00:00
Q
Jhazingha-Khaliph sounds horrible, why did they even make music?
The Jhazingha-Khaliph discography project was always done for fun. Have you listened to some of the other crap that is music nowadays? Don't hate cause you and your friends can't do something of this caliber.
A
Is it true that some members are professional musicians?
Q
Yes, Nulejun, Slim Soul, Pablo, EnKogKneegró and Drex are all professional musicians. Muffy, Ce-Line, Pidget, Lon, Apples, Mad Ball, NuMe, Peachez and Foxfire are amateur musicians although Muffy has become a live musician as of 2016.
A

Slim Soul, Drex,
EnKogKneegró, Nulejun, Shatta and Pablo all have backgrounds in music.
Who was the first member of the band?
Q
A
All the members of Version 1 (Ce-Line, Muffy, Lon and Pidget) were the first members as of August 19, 2002 at the same time. Pidget and Muffy were songwriters before the band began but Lon asked Ce-Line to ask Pidget if they could become a group.

Lon, Ce-Line, Pidget and Muffy were the first four members of the band.
Q
What does the name Jhazingha-Khaliph mean and how did the band come up with it?
A
The name means nothing at all. It was a random name that Pidget came up with for an email address when Lon asked him to send her lyrics to songs and he didn't have an email address.

Q
How old are the members? Who's the oldest?
A
The members are various ages. They are (from oldest to youngest) Drex, Nulejun, NuMe, Apples, Peachez, Ce-Line, Foxfire, Muffy, Pidget, Lon, Mad Ball, Shatta, Radish, Pablo, Slim Soul and EnKogKneegró.

Q
Where are the members from?
A
The band was started in Asbury Park, New Jersey but the members are from various places. Pidget (Asbury Park), Muffy (Asbury Park / Neptune), Ce-Line (Neptune / Roanoke), Lon (Asbury Park / Neptune), Apples (Asbury Park), Slim Soul (California / Woodbridge), Pablo (The Bronx), Nulejun (Philadelphia / Willingboro), NuMe (Lakewood / Browns Mills), Mad Ball (Long Branch / Eatontown), EnKogKneegró (Asbury Park /Neptune), Drex (Neptune / Newark), Peachez (Asbury Park), Foxfire (Asbury Park / Ewing), Radish (Freehold), and Shatta (Brooklyn).
Q
What ethnicity and religion are the members?
A
All sixteen of the band members are African-American and all, believe it or not, are Christian. Additionally, Nulejun is Jamaican and Caucasian, Pablo is half-Puerto Rican half-Black, Slim Soul is Egyptian, Peachez is Panamanian and Jamaican, Radish is Haitian and Shatta is Trinidadian.
Q
Why do we never see all the members together in pictures?
A
Most the time you will see members of the same version in pictures, but you will most likely never see a picture of all fourteen members together. The members live far apart and have contrasting work schedules and most the time it is impossible for even the three or four members in any version to meet up.
Q
Why does the band have so many versions?
A
One of the reasons the band has many versions is because it is easier to assemble three people together for each album than it is to assemble the whole group. Smaller trios also gives every member a chance to be heard individually more.
Q
Who makes the music for the albums?
A
In the past, Pidget, Ce-Line and Muffy made the music for the albums only because using beats others have made cost money at that time or all the other bands were using the same generic beats for their mixtapes. Frank Morgan produced the beat for 'Lost & Found' on the Synergy album, Kerim Klah produced the beats on the album The Kerim Klah Recordings and beatdreamer.com made the beats for the album Transitioning Thru The Nuances of Jhazingha-Khaliph. Additionally Pablo and Slim Soul are also producers.
Q
Why did Wikipedia delete the Jhazingha-Khaliph page?
A
Back in 2004 Jhazingha-Khaliph had a Wikipedia page listing the four members of Version 1 (Muffy, Ce-Line, Lon and Pidget). Wikipedia considered Jhazingha-Khaliph a 'non-notable' band because Jhazingha-Khaliph had no fan base and did no concerts. Wikipedia deleted the Jhazingha-Khaliph page and the pages of many other musicians. However, Wiki sites spiderwebbed from the original site and now the four original members are listed in lists of hip hop musicians on multiple sites among other popular musicians. One of such sites is right here
Q
What genre is the music considered?
A
Every member of the band are conflicted about what overall genre the music is considered. Jhazingha-Khaliph has been called 'alternative' and 'outsiders' genred music although a lot of their songs don't fit into those categories either.
Q
Who is the leader of the band?
A
There has never been a leader of the band. However, when recording particular albums or songs if one member wrote the song/album or produced the beat they sometimes would give direction on how the song/album should be done.
Q
Why is Jhazingha-Khaliph divided into two eras?
A
The Original era was from 2002 to 2010. In this era there was one band with Muffy, Ce-Line, Pidget and Lon, until Lon left in 2004, then Muffy, Ce-Line and Pidget continued as a trio, then they broke up in 2007 and became another group named the Chronicles, then Jhazingha-Khaliph formed again in 2008 and the three of them were both Jhazingha-Khaliph AND The Chronicles, then The Chronicles ended in 2009 and it was only Muffy, Ce-Line and Pidget as Jhazingha-Khaliph, then Apples joined in 2009 and they became four members, then Apples left in 2010 and it became Muffy, Ce-Line & Pidget again.
After recording ten albums Muffy, Ce-Line and Pidget wanted to begin the new decade with new music someone else would produce and new members giving the band a more unique sound. So on January 1, 2011 they became the 'New' Jhazingha-Khaliph and they lasted four months. In 2015 The 'New' Jhazingha-Khaliph was reformed again with Pidget, Ce-Line and Foxfire and eventually it grew into several other versions of Jhazingha-Khaliph, all with three members. Jhazingha-Khaliph NEVER changed their band name to the Original Jhazingha-Khaliph or the New Jhazingha-Khaliph, 'original' and 'new' were used to describe which decade the band was referring to.
So all the members that joined from 2002-2010 were referred to as the Original members and all the members that joined from 2011-2020 were referred to as the New members.
Q
What's the difference between a founding member and an original member?
A
There are only four founding members, Muffy, Ce-Line, Pidget and Lon. They 'founded' or started the group on August 19, 2002. There are five original members, Muffy, Apples, Ce-Line, Lon and Pidget. The original members come from the Original Era (2002-2010). Apples joined the band seven years after they began so she wasn't really an original member of the band when they first started, but she was an original member of the band during the band's first decade.
Q
How many members are parents?
A
Muffy, Nulejun, Mad Ball, NuMe, Lon, Peachez and Pablo are all parents.
Q
Why hasn't this band ever performed live?
A
Jhazingha-Khaliph did perform live one time during Version 3. As The Chronicles they performed live in churches as well. However, due to various reasons that contained stagefright, introversion, no-shows, and a clash of attitudes and personalities Jhazingha-Khaliph has never performed live as a group again.
Q
Why is all this being done if the band will never sell the music anyway?
A
Pidget originally used songwriting and music to battle depression and wanted to go to the studio to make songs that only he would hear. He stated he wanted to grow old and be able to listen to music that fit what he was experiencing in life instead of what was always on the radio. Occasionally he and Muffy collaborated with writing songs. Ce-Line told Lon that Pidget was going into the studio and Lon suggested that they should become a group. Pidget didn't want to be in the public eye as he was doing it more for fun and therapeutic reasons. The original four members all had different reasons to do music.
The band placed the albums Rebirth, Trilogy and Centigrade & Centipede for sale. Respecting the wishes of all the members, if members did not want their albums placed on sale they would not be. Ce-Line wanted Trilogy placed for sale and Drex determined he wanted Centigrade & Centipede to be placed for sale so it was done. The other members did not want their music sold so they kept it in their clandestine discography. Pidget's entire premise was to have a discography shared only between the band members and their loved ones.
Q
What is the band's record label?
A
Jhazingha-Khaliph's record label is Krazilu Records.
Q
Who owns the name Jhazingha-Khaliph?
A
All the members in some part own the name Jhazingha-Khaliph but the four founding members Ce-Line, Lon, Muffy and Pidget, take precedence over all the other members in terms of ownership of the name becaause they started the group under the name and ended the group with the name. Apples would then come next because she was the first non-founding member to join the band. Afterwards would be Foxfire, then Drex, then Nulejun, then Mad Ball, then NuMe, then Slim Soul, then Peachez, then Pablo, then EnKogKneegró, then Radish, then Shatta.
Currently it is agreed that every valid version of Jhazingha-Khaliph must contain one of the founding members.
Q
Why are the band versions all out of order? Version 8 was formed before Versions 5, 6 & 7 and Version 9 was formed before Version 6, 7 & 8?
A
Jhazingha-Khaliph didn't use Version numbers until Slim Soul joined in 2017. From 2002-2016 the band was only known as Jhazingha-Khaliph. In 2015 there was more than one version but only the 'Foxfire Version' survived. All the people in the other versions dropped out of the project. In 2016 there came another version with Drex. Because Ce-Line and Pidget were the other two members in both versions the versions were always named after the 'new' member. So one version was the 'Foxfire Version' and the other version was the 'Drex Version'.
Later Nulejun joined and a version had to be made for him but this time Ce-Line wasn't used as the other member because he was backed up with the Drex project and all three members lived too far apart. So Nulejun's version wasn't complete. At this time Foxfire left the band and her version dissolved, so the 'Drex Version' was the only complete version of Jhazingha-Khaliph until Mad Ball came along. Mad Ball then formed the 'Mad Ball Version' and NuMe formed the 'NuMe Version'. At this time Ce-Line and Pidget were both the other members in all three of these versions.
When Ce-Line left the dynamics changed because now Pidget would be singing with two new members in each version as he had to find Ce-Line's replacements. Pidget then decided to number every version of the band instead of naming each version after two new people. So all the band lineups had to be numbered going all the way back to the beginning. Of course the first Version with Ce-Line, Lon, Muffy & Pidget was Version # 1. When Lon left the next version became Version # 2. When Apples joined that version became Version # 3. And when Apples left that version became Version # 4. Ironically versions # 2 and # 4 had the exact same members in them, Muffy, Pidget & Ce-Line.
Pidget skipped the Foxfire version because nothing was recorded and named the Drex version Version # 5. Pidget had forgotten about Nulejun's version and named Mad Ball and Slim Soul's version Version # 6 and NuMe and Pablo's version Version # 7. When Foxfire returned Foxfire's version became Version # 8. Pidget remembered Nulejun's version afterward and asked Muffy to become the third member and backdated the version to the date that Nulejun joined so they became Version # 9. The EnKogKneegró version was the last version at # 10 until Version # 11 was formed with Radish and Shatta.
Q
Why did the band break up so many times?
A
The first time the band broke up on September 23, 2007 was because too many songs were accumulating that weren't done and Muffy wasn't adding in parts. Pidget and Ce-Line decided to do a duet album that eventually became known as 'Cityscape' and then Ce-Line wouldn't put in parts in songs. Pidget had to make the songs solo songs and then ultimately decided to leave the group due to lack of communication.
The second time the band broke up on April 17, 2011 was when Ce-Line had moved out of state, Muffy was going into politics and Pidget began doing comic books. None of them wanted to continue the band.
Other subsequent times the band did not end but rather it was individuals leaving different band versions.
Q
What took the band so long to reunite?
A
Pidget forgot that he marked the CDs on the band's 2002-2010 Anthology as 'The First Anthology'. He didn't realize this until 2015 and remembered that the band was supposed to do a second anthology as well. That's when the band reunited with Ce-Line, Foxfire & Pidget. For four years there was no Jhazingha-Khaliph.
Q
How many total versions of Jhazingha-Khaliph were there?
A
There were eleven 'OFFICIAL' versions. In the past there were also nine other versions of Jhazingha-Khaliph that never recorded anything and abandoned the project.
Q
Why do the members use code-names?
A
Code-names were used to identify with the character that each member was portraying and also to provide anonymity with respect to the members showing up in google searches.
Q
Did any of the original members record outside of the band?
A
Ce-Line continued recording music after the band ended in 2011 for about two years. Pidget recorded some music with his twin brother, Rap Master, for his project, as a background singer named Waspen on another project in Princeton and wrote and recorded songs for the Damon Wall album Arping in the Wind that were never used. Muffy became a live singer hosting events in Asbury Park for youth on Sundays. Apples became the host of the music show New Music New Jersey and interviewed a number of artists and music groups.
Q
What is XEGhWƏR?
A
XEGhWƏR is the thirteenth album recorded by Jhazingha-Khaliph. Ce-Line was not talking much about the music project for a few months in 2017 so Pidget didn't know if Jhazingha-Khaliph was going to continue. Because Pidget had a lot of songs unfinished, Pidget was going to remain in Jhazingha-Khaliph but turn over the management of the project to Ce-Line and complete the rest of his songs as another duo named XEGhWƏR instead. XEGhWƏR was going to be Pidget and another one of his friends doing various songs as duos. He was going to start with Mad Ball and NuMe since they were already in some songs.
When Ce-Line in fact confirmed that Jhazingha-Khaliph was becoming too much for him with work, Pidget didn't know what to do with the XEGhWƏR logo he had made. Since it made no sense for Pidget to manage both Jhazingha-Khaliph that he planned to turn over to Ce-Line and XEGhWƏR, Pidget nixed XEGhWƏR and decided to continue the Jhazingha-Khaliph project. Mad Ball had originally named their album Chaos is Broken, but when Mad Ball stood up Slim Soul and Pidget for a photo shoot that everyone cleared their work schedules for twice, Pidget renamed the album XEGhWƏR and used the logo for that instead.
Q
Who named the albums?
A
Muffy named 'Rebirth', 'Blind Spot' and 'Transitioning Thru The Nuances of Jhazingha-Khaliph'.
